Press releases & news — 23 November 2007

The recent scandal over the loss of child benefit records highlights a massive problem for employers and businesses in every industry.

In the case of HMRC, reports indicated there was a procedure for handling data,

If that is right then the procedure wasn’t followed. Those responsible may have had training in this area, but their manager probably has no record or reliable proof of this.

Employers waste money on staff training every year without assessing what knowledge is actually learnt.

If those responsible could have been trained online rather than in a one off seminar they could have received up-to-date information on how to transfer important data.

As recently as October, the Information Commissioner warned of low awareness of Data Protection Issues amongst businesses and since 2006, 13 people have been prosecuted under Data Protection legislation.

It staggers us that businesses waste so much money on training when with our short online training and assessment, managers can get piece of mind and know that staff have been trained.
