Nothing to say

No blog posts this week because oddly enough I have nothing to say.

So why write a blog post about nothing?

Well, I got thinking about noise and silence in general.

We are a very, VERY noisy society. Even when people have nothing to say, they feel the need to say something to fill the void.

Endless TV drivel, presenters and celebrities…

Even down to people on the phone as they walk around the supermarket.

“No, I just thought I would give you a ring. Do you like the brown packet rice or the black? I can never remember…How are your feet? How is Uncle Frank”

aaarrrgghhhhh….

All this thinking (yes amazing I know…) coincided with a trip to a DIY outlet warehouse type thing. (How very tragic…)

And at the inevitable queue for the checkout, there was one of these “shower rooms” on display. (It’s a “ten minute install” by the way – yeah right…).

It’s not a shower anymore – it’s a shower room.

Complete with radio, phone point (phone not included??) so you can go there and hide.

And make or listen to as much noise as you want.

So, bearing in mind that I always reckon that today’s luxury is tomorrow’s standard, how long is it before my kids come home from school – embarrassed that all their mates have got one of these and me – being a grump won’t go out and buy one?

So that’s it – a blog about nothing.

I just want to leave you with one thought. Unfortunately, the first few seconds of Art Garfunkel’s intro are missed off but I think you will get the general gist of what he means.

(Oh and by the way – when was the last time you cleared your mind and didn’t say anything at all?
