The skills escalator
People management, the CIPD magazine (17th May issue) had a very interesting article about the skills escalator. A systematic approach to allowing and extending learning opportunities to all staff regardless of current job and qualifications.
We think the skills escalator makes sound business sense although we would be cautious in some respects as the report outlined frustrations of staff who had learnt skills for jobs which did not exist…. Hmmm beware of bright idea syndrome …
It is also interesting that financial pressures have started to threaten some work.
