Customer Service Management Rants — 24 June 2010

teabox Builders Tea & twitterA couple of weeks ago, I got talking with a friend of mine in the USA on twitter. The conversation was about tea bags not been readily available in the US.

(Most people I talk to say they don’t get twitter – why would they want to talk about making tea and sunbathing and other miscellany all day? – Boring right?)

It is – unless you sell tea bags. (or whatever people are talking about).

But these guys “builders tea” – obviously monitored the conversation – went to the effort of looking me up on twitter (see the handwritten note and compare it to my twitter profile) and then even went to our website and copied our address down.

THEN, they posted us a trial size box of builders tea bags for us to try.

And people say, “I can’t get business from twitter…” (shakes head)…

  1. Thanks for sharing your story. It's a great little example of how Twitter can be used by businesses – some businesses out there really are switched on and are utilising the opportunity to monitor conversations.
